#1. Miracle
Comfortable it was
Warm and moist
Nurtured!
Writhing in pain
Urgency and panic
The world was spinning
Out of hand!
Pushed
By forces unseen
Just feeling
Helpless and Hapless
Turning, gyrating, squeezing
A vacuum pulled her
Through torturous pain
Emerged she finally!
Released!
Applause!
Angels held her!
Caressed and kissed her!
It’s a miracle!
Said the doctor…
It’s not yet 9 months
What a warrior!
#2.
Introspection
Flailed her arms
Accused others
Eyes brimmed over
Wailed moreover!
He held her close,
Patiently
Spoke softly steadily,
Penetrating the wall
Pain and hurt did befall.
“Think!
Again!
Change the perspective!
Change the view!
Put yourself in others’ shoe!
Look into your heart
Peer into the other
Make your heart
Like no other
Strong as steel
Compassionate as our
Divine Mother!
Introspection alone
Your strength, your weapon
Do not buckle under
Gloat not what you won!
Think!
Again!
Change the perspective!
Change the view!
Put yourself in others’ shoe!”
‘Yes Father, dear!’
She wiped her tear,
And blew her fear
Her body could bruise-
But not her mind,
She smiled – Who cares?
#3.
#The view outside my window
The curtain clings to it
Separating-
Within and without!
I am drawn magnetically
As the golden orb reaches
Its gentle warm fingers
Seeking refuge in my open room!
The wind ruffles the green Banyan, Ashoka and Peepul
What is that song…
They hum melodiously?
The blue kingfisher and the black Whistling thrush
Join in mellifluously!
The rich notes float
Through serendipity!
I watch and listen
Transfixed, endlessly!
For Heaven is here
Right outside my window
And the sun beams it
Within me!
#4.
The grey rocks and boulders around
Where buds and blooms abound
Every hue, every colour
Did sashay n gloriously abound!
Bees, butterflies and beings
Flitting and fluttering
Over fragrant flowers, tantalising
Teasing, nipping nectar and drowning,
There’s a cry… a faint protest
Who is it? Court arrest!
In the garden of Eden
All seems free and fair
Yet,
Who is it hurt and moaning there?
Oh my child- don’t despair!
Where there’s foul- there’s fair,
Every dark night, followed by the twilight hour
As the stars twinkle in Heaven
Fireflies gleam in Eden!
Oh my child- don’t despair!
#5.
Wandering around aimlessly
She wondered what could she be?
Neither the queen of yesteryears nor a protege-
Just a plain and simple girl was she!
She tried her hand at baking,
Another at entertaining,
She then took to giving
Using her heart without complaining!
Reading to urchins at the kerb,
Feeding the queues,
Tending the ailing at the turf,
Chased all her doubts, all her blues!
Still she wondered
What would she be
What would she do
The tide did not tarry!
Perplexed –
When people did surround her
Fistsful of dirt did they fling
Caught her reflection in the mirror
Wings on her back…
From where did they spring?
Looking above
A bright light did beckon
Flapping her wings
She soared… into the unknown
‘Welcome home my angel!’
Did the Almighty gently sing!
#6.
Through the night restless,
The child in deep slumber
Cast not a doubt, smiling asunder!
She tossed and turned
Her dreams to nightmares turned
Jerking awake to her soul mate, she turned
Lovingly he caressed as he turned.
The wind raged, into a storm
The storm within –
Refused to settle!
Restless he moved round and round!
She lay there quite still,
Tears frozen like dewdrops on the sill!
Her heart a flutter-
As a caged bird does stutter!
The storm within, raged without
Flinging all aside
He moved out!
Her eyes grew wide
Watching his princely garments cast aside!
Springing to the door ajar
She cried “Oh my love don’t leave me …
Come back, I beseech thee!”
But the storm that raged…
Continued unabated!
The frozen tears flowed
Her cries a silent scream- unheard!
#7.
Eyes wide, crawling on all fours
Gushing with delight he pointed out of doors.
The eyes sparkled as the plump fists pumelled
“ That’s a koel … cooo cooo
Oh that’s a squirrel…. Leaping to and fro!”
Laughter gurgled, questions answered!
Time sped by
Cherubic runs on very sure feet
Lisping queries from morn to night,
Why? Why? Why?
Was what peppered the conversation…
Imagine Mother’s plight!
With every answer there stems delight!
Now, a strapping lad,
Questions bubble in his mind!
Often, none to satisfy –
What he can’t find.
The sparkle in his eyes
Smoulders day and night
Solutions are so simple
Why can’t we just do it, right?
#8.
Glass half empty or half full,
To mope- or rejoice graceful!
Lay there she, at the end of her day
Memories and moments spinning away!
Ah! Her friend stole her things
Shattered her heart-
She would have given her anyway!
Recalled she Her spouse,spoke bitterly,
Cramming her mind as eyes shed silently,
She loved him immensely!
Offsprings- her heart and soul
Some troubles gave,
but many joys did unfold!
The sun was setting
Into the ocean dipping,
Looking at it
She filled with gratitude-
For a life richly imbued
With joy and sorrow
Reaching the nadir and touching the zenith!
Her heart – beat slow and steady
For she chose to remember what was heady!
Rest she forgave and forgot – for her journey she was ready!
#9.
Walking along the edge of the forest
The trees, the leaves, the birds chirping
Took my breath away with the breeze singing !
The rising sun owned the horizon
Casting hues of mesmerizing creation
The symphony of the birds welcomes Apollo!
The rolling waves rush to greet the waiting shore
The aquamarine waters surge with glee
Crashing on the rocks
Spraying up the scree!
From Twilight to dusk
My life is blessed
With people to love
And those who love me!
Watching the creamy Moon
Climbing the horizon
Casts me in a swoon
For my heart fills with the boon
Of gratitude I receive night n noon!
