That was like Alibaba’s magic password to open the cave of treasures, “ Khul ja Simsim!” Reena could not believe she could finally be going to meet her Dearest Ayush. Throughout the ‘Lockdown’ they had been locked in their homes. Only Lovers could understand the pain of having to stay apart. Technology could offer little solace. Seeing each other over video calls was not the same as being with each other in person. Virtual was virtual after all. It was OK to see Ayushman Khurana on screen, you expected not to meet him, ever. But your own boyfriend you needed right beside you. That is when you felt complete! When you were together!
She pulled out her favourite white top with red polka dots. The soft fabric fell gently, flattering her jawline and sharp nose, highlighting her smiling lips and charcoal black eyes. Pulling on her shredded denims, she skipped out of the house, shouting “ Bye Mom, going to meet Ayush at Candy’!” She barely heard her Mom say “Have fun!”
Looking up from her phone for the hundredth time, she finally saw Ayush approaching. Neatly dressed in her favourite blue shirt and his favourite jeans, hair slicked down (asking to be ruffled by her fingers), smiling from ear to ear. Their eyes sparkled and danced as their gaze embraced each other, before their hands could find each other, clasping and caressing each other and then they embraced. The long drawn out moment which tried to bridge the days, weeks and months of separation. They were smiling and laughing as tears rolled down their cheeks, trying to release that pain, deep within having survived just for this moment when they immortalized, ‘ Do jism, ek jaan hai hum’ ….
Just like that they completed each other!
