Name: The Mildly Chaotic World of Chi Kenny
Author: Khushboo Shah
Genre: Dystopian Fantasy
Rating: Very Good
The mildly chaotic world of Chi Kenny, a unique title sets the tone for the rest of the book.
A creative outpouring of the author, Khushboo Shah’s heart, is a thoughtful dystopian fantasy where cattle and humans exchange their roles.
The creative characterization, naming the characters like Chi Kenny- a chicken, Bull Dozer, Mr. Ram Bow, reflects the attention to detail. Creating an entire town, political scenario, and the nuances of economics drew my appreciation by the buckets.
The premise being that the animals are breeding humans for their needs. The author forces the readers to empathise with animals being bred on an industrial scale. She of course wants humans to think about the emotional angle of all such creatures and their misery.
The story is about a chicken named Chi Kenny out to save his pet humans, homin family of Adam, Eve, and Apple (Isn’t that cute?) from the system driven to exploit humans for profit.
The language used is interesting, simple and makes for an easy read. But, the concept forced me to stop now and then, to process the subtle messages. Giving the characters humanistic emotions, helped to integrate a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour.
Its definitely a must read for all who appreciate dystopia, fantasy and animals. Take a bow Khushboo Shah for the sheer creativity.
