She welcomed him,
As he trooped in through the door
Wet kisses and hugs not one or two,
Nothing less than thousands galore!
He had found her
Abandoned and Homeless
Lying in the ditch
When one night in the drunken ditch
He rolled over her, sprawled in darkness!
All night they lay
In the dark, the cold, smeared in their own
Blood and spew
Lost to the world, lost to old and new!
Someone picked him up,
Picked her up too!
They found their way home…
The Lord alone knows- the attempts were not few.
Who knocked in sense…
Who knows?
How does it matter…
For her brown eyes, pierced his heart
And the emptiness, shattered!
The fertile heart and mind
Harvested green crops
Of love, longing and proclivity!
The change- stark as depression and gaiety.
Caring for her-
Filled his home and his heart,
Cept Joy, there was little room left
For darkness or tear!
“Oh how do you manage to love me so?” asked he.
She simply poured her heart and soul into
The brown eyes, that were she!
Her tail wagging nineteen to the dozen –
Her human loved her
Was it intangible in this universe?
