Who Won?

The hunt was on! It had been days… no weeks… probably decades… okay, definitely a century or two! The largest race on the planet, who claimed to have been the most intelligent, was now on the run. Hounded by the deadliest enemy, in its entire history. They had tried to face the deadly monster and cut it to size, but alas they lost. Time and again.

The war had been raging incessantly. Like the rakshasas of yore, from mythology of ten thousand years and before… the enemy was seen to be constantly changing its form and shape- bloody shapeshifters! And that’s how they beat the smug, pompous, and overconfident creatures. They let the creatures, assume they were all powerful and unbeatable. Ha! Ha! They fell for it and the ensuing battle which was presumed to last a few days, to a few weeks- probably… turned into an indefinite battle.

Long, long ago there was a world created by the Divine. A universe actually! It was made sustainable, with systems in place so it worked perfectly.  And then were created Men and Women…. So, I have been told! As they reigned over their kingdom, monarchs of all they saw, they quickly multiplied and enjoyed mammalian emotions of love, parental bliss, and grief.

This was in an era of no mobiles, nothing online and depression was not yet coined! Soon the colony of men, was bursting at its seams and a few Bravehearts ventured forth where no man had ever stepped, staking claim to new lands, gardens, oases, deserts, and mountains. Needless to say, they occupied every corner of the world.

Years passed and these men learnt and developed many things, to make their life comfortable. Such luxury was envied by the other species, and they decided to ride piggyback on the smart ones. Sometimes they would just latch on and drink their sap… they were called leeches. Sometimes, they bit in hard and disappeared within them, flourishing in a rich ecosystem, they were called parasites, germs, … what not.

Men and women thrived but were beaten, by their own or by germs. Watching them sagaciously, Mother Nature, a term coined by the great men and women for all the resources they found around, would also give them a resounding beating by shaking violently, spewing great flames of anger, or hurtling all the water vapour it could find, incessantly.

As they grew, so did the wants, the basic needs remained the same… food, shelter, companionship, and love. Till they discovered virgin lands and virgin people. Overnight the demand rose and so did the price for such exotic specimens of their species. Bridal price rose for virgins. Then you can well imagine what all was attached to the presence of such a quality. From fistfights to battles to honour killings, all got intertwined, mixed and maligned. Over centuries it became a prized possession, a matter of pride.

Fast forward to our story!

Well, the enemy was not visible, yet omnipresent. Its effects were wreaking havoc and not one was spared. The attachment with the prized possession of virginity turned a new leaf as the coveted virgin’s definition changed. It was deemed the salvation for the race was to have virgins, free from the tentacles of the surreptitious enemy lurking just about everywhere.

So, what do you think happened by the year 3022, when the Millionth variant ran amuck and the Three thousand, nine hundred and ninety ninth booster had people queuing up in mile long queues?

The desire was to have Covid free people- Covirgin! For they were unique, to have beaten the enemies in this long drawn battle. Finally, humans inferred, one could be pure only when not invaded by disease- of any kind, of body or mind. The virus brought the pompous people to their knees. Forcing warped ideas and outdated values to be thrown out as the survival of the fittest continued to rage.

  1. That’s a real Encyclopaedia Indianaca for the 30th Century! While it gave me shudders to think of 3999th booster dose….ha ha …. I am looking in my medical files now ( to look for some vestgial comorbidity ) that would qualify me to have my ‘first’ booster!!

Yours is an awe inspiring journey into Coviginity!!!
