Pupil or Teacher

Pupils make teachers. Spanning a career of nearly 21 years, when I look back, I can clearly see myself in the B Ed classes learning how to teach. I was lucky to have super teachers, right through school, college and even Life.

From the very first years it was my endeavour to give my best, what I had absorbed from all my teachers, in various schools across the country,(as my father often got transferred being an army officer). In the latter years I was trying to get my head around the demands of the various boards. Students and their problems have been quite similar as have the reactions of parents. Some quite predictable and some shockingly unimaginable.

What I tried many years ago to build reading skills in my students seems to be a norm in some international boards today. Having been an all rounder throughout school and college myself as a pupil, I never thought a student could be otherwise. Being rewarded with the trust of many pupils over the years, I am richer today as they stand as my friends. Many of their parents, whom I respect, I am lucky to count among my friends.

As colleagues we learn from each other, as such becoming teachers and pupils for each other too. The wealth of such friendship is a treasure I cherish, and which has shaped me, my thoughts and ideas. For each I am grateful.

I wish all my teachers from the days when I was a pupil and all my pupils, who made me a teacher, the very best of health and abundant joy.
